From as young as I can remember I had a passion for dressing up.

I remember clearly getting some of my first inspiration from my pre primary teacher. Her name was Mrs Mariner. She had long hair, bell bottom jeans and big hoop earrings. And lots and lots of rings on her fingers. It was those 70s hippy days.

Mesmorised by her warmth and wonderful fashion sense, I tried to emulate her. My mother had some curtains lying around so I took all the curtain rings and put them on my fingers. I felt a million dollars.

This was the start of an experimental journey in fashion.

Thing is I was a bit of a contradiction in terms because as much as I loved jewellery and all things pink and fluffy, I also was a bit of a fairy elephant whose dream was to become a cowgirl. When all girls wanted to become nurses or teachers, I wanted to be different. Had anyone seen a cowgirl or wanted to be one? Nope.

So a cowgirl I shall be.
